Job Title: Data & Systems Manager
The Native Organizers Alliance (NOA) is a unique Indigenous training and organizing network dedicated to building the capacity of Native tribes and community groups to build grassroots movements for transformational change. It also provides a forum for tribal, traditional and community leaders and organizers to work in collaboration with each other and promote their work with non-Native national allies. NOA supports grassroots-driven social change rooted in traditional practices and values to advance tribal sovereignty and the health and wellbeing of Native people in rural and urban Native communities and on reservations across Indian Country.

Job Description
Reporting to the Operations Director, the Data & Systems Manager will manage program data operations, knowledge management practices, and interdepartmental information systems and technology.
The Data & Systems Manager is expected to work across diverse teams and workstyles, and help the organization design and administer systems that make workflow more efficient. The candidate should care deeply about the NOA’s mission, have experience working in nonprofit data management, and enjoy strategy and systems.
The candidate should also have a familiarity with the history and current situation in Indian Country. Prior experience in working with Tribal and Native communities and organizations is desirable.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Data Management
- Administer, refine, and design systems that track NOA’s network of Native organizers, community groups, Tribes, and organizations.
- Work with the program team leads to ensure relevant data is being collected, and that systems are set up to support the growth and development of the National Training Program, Organizing Fellows Program, Development Department, Policy and Advocacy Program, and Civic Engagement Program.
- Proactively monitor data hygiene and develop data management practices that support the program teams to manage and track national and state-based training applicants and attendees.
- Proactively seek input from the program teams on systems and gather feedback to refine processes as programs and teams grow and evolve.
- In collaboration with program team leads, ensure NOA’s civic engagement strategy’s data processes are operationalized and integrated into NOA’s long-term data strategy and that key data management practices are designed and documented to support the successful integration of new software, data, and data management procedures.
- Ensure that systems are set up to gather and report on programmatic data needed for key metrics outlined in funding proposals and work with department leads to identify and refine current and future metrics.
Knowledge Management & Training
- Update NOA’s data systems procedures with an eye for how best to support long-term operational sustainability, and with an understanding of and respect for the NOA team’s diverse learning styles and differing comfort levels with technology.
- Proactively seek to discover insights across the organization to understand what additional information team members need to do their job, and work closely with the Operations Director to develop and administer systems that support NOA’s long-term organizational growth.
- Maintain organization of NOA’s internal team drive and manage document storage practices to optimize the team’s ability to find information.
- In partnership with the Operations Director, develop a strategy to understand needs and gaps across the team and develop and coordinate trainings to support team learning.
Data, Systems, and Technology Management
- Act as resident expert on all things data and systems, including software such as Airtable, Action Network, Stackerhq, Zapier, Asana, and others (it is okay if you don’t have experience with all of these platforms, but a willingness and interest to learn is essential).
- Assess technology needs across the organization and advise and support the Operations Director to implement technology solutions that best meet the needs of a growing organization.
- Manage, update, and improve NOA’s internal team data portal and oversee NOA’s database design, growth, and management across all NOA departments.
- Oversee successful integration of data from special projects and collaborations such as the Indigenous Futures Survey.
Special Projects
- Manage special projects as directed by the Operations Director, Development Director, and Program team leads, such as developing learning and development strategies to better understand how best to meet the needs of NOA’s current team, program participants, ecosystem partners, etc.
Knowledge and Skills
- You have 3-5 years of experience managing data operations and are excited by the opportunity to deepen your knowledge and skills.
- You honor the idea that Native cultures and practices are the guiding principles of NOA’s organizational culture and ways of working within the staff and with all our relations.
- Have a deep knowledge of the politics and issues impacting the Tribal and Native communities.
- Strong knowledge of intertribal Native history and culture.
- Knowledge of and commitment to progressive social change movements and grassroots organizing as the key to building political power.
- Recognize the importance of achieving sovereignty through the collaboration of Tribal leaders, grassroots communities, and traditional governments. These entities play a crucial role in the movement towards sovereignty and systemic change in the relations between Native nations and the federal government.
- Can communicate clearly and effectively.
- Familiar with work plans and able to participate in setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Detail-oriented and able to manage your time efficiently.
- Possesses solid problem-solving skills and knows how to give and receive feedback well.
- A desire to grow and develop personally, and deepen our collective Indigenous frameworks. You want to learn from others in an exciting moment in Native history with an organization committed to movement-building for transformational change.
Compensation
Salary : Starting salary is $70,000 depending on experience.

Location: Remote (some travel for staff gatherings, campaigns, and events.)
